European Expat Savings ("we", "us") operates this website and is the controller of the personal data described below under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR where it applies. Through the rate check form we collect your full name, email address, phone number, country of residence, and the deposit amount range and term you select. Through the contact form we collect your name, email address, optional phone number, subject and message. We also record the date and time of each submission.

We do not collect bank details, account numbers or identity documents on this website. Those are requested later, directly by the deposit-taking bank, only if you choose to proceed. Please do not include sensitive information such as health details in your messages.

We use your details to: respond to your rate check or message; prepare and send you fixed term deposit options relevant to your amount, term and country; contact you by phone or email about that request; send you an automatic confirmation email after you submit a form; keep records of enquiries; and protect the website against spam and misuse. We do not use your details for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

We process your data on the basis of steps taken at your request before entering into a possible arrangement (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, keeping records and preventing misuse (Article 6(1)(f)). Where you tick the consent box on a form, we rely on your consent for contacting you (Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time without affecting earlier processing. We will only send marketing emails if you have separately agreed to receive them.

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with: service providers that host this website, store our database and deliver our emails, acting on our instructions under data processing agreements; a deposit-taking bank or partner you choose to proceed with, and only with your agreement; and authorities where the law requires it.

Our service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area or the UK. Where they do, we rely on an adequacy decision or on the European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK equivalent) to protect your data.

Rate check and contact form details are kept for up to 24 months from your last contact with us and are then deleted or anonymised. If you open a deposit, the bank keeps its own records under its own policy and anti-money-laundering law. If you ask us to delete your data sooner, we will do so unless we must keep it by law.

You have the right to access your personal data, correct it, have it erased, restrict or object to its processing, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. You can also object at any time to direct marketing. To exercise any right, use our contact form. We respond within one month, and may ask you to confirm your identity. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live or work.

Data is sent over an encrypted connection and stored in a secured database. Only authorised staff can view submissions, through a password protected admin area. We review our security measures regularly.

This website uses only strictly necessary storage needed for it to work, such as keeping authorised staff signed in to the admin area. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.

This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
